Formula 1 covered the management crisis

Last season was far from the best for the FIA representatives. They had a lot of mistakes on their account, especially with regard to the period of the Formula 1 Grand Prix. The organization was even attacked and joked by the participants and fans of the event.

For example, Christian Horner decided to speak out to the federation in some kind of comic form. But the latter did not particularly appreciate such a gesture. So the athlete during the awards ceremony (he got the championship cup at the end of the event in Bologna) threw a few humorous phrases, thereby “lowering” the federation and its representatives. Mohammed bin Sulayem did not appreciate such a trick.

Reaction of the FIA President

The 2021 season was marked by an impressive scandal, which the final presented to the public. So, by the decision of Michael Masi, only a few riders bothered to honor the safety car overtaking and then return to the circle. But then everything went wrong.

Because of such machinations, Masi had to leave his place, which was taken by two directors at once. A similar decision by FIA President Mohammed bin Sulayem shocked the public. However, according to the results of Formula 1, Eduard Freitas and Niels Wittich headed. But this was followed by a number of problems.

Causes of “failure”

The decision to appoint Freitas and Wittink was wrong from the start. This is evidenced by their scheme of work, the failure in organizing the event, as well as the feedback from the participants in the competition. But the president himself explained his decision to appoint two directors by the fact that before that “the structure of the race directorate was imperfect.”

Despite the many nuances, Ben Sulayem still insists that there be 2 directors. In his opinion, they get the opportunity to act as a substitute for each other, and this ensures the avoidance of overload and a higher quality of work of both representatives of the directorate.

Many have already told Ben Sulayem that dual directorships will not lead to good. However, the FIA president still insists on his own. In his opinion, this way one can easily replace the other or be ready for some kind of betrayal by the other side. Moreover, Mohammed intended to appoint a third director.

That’s just even the “duet of directors” did not bring the desired result. He managed to achieve only that the pressure on the leadership of the event was excluded. But in general, the situation only worsened.

The main problem was not even that there were two directors. The nuance arose due to the inexperience of the appointed individuals. So in one of the events (in Austria) there were problems regarding the annulment of the time of Sergio Perez. In Italy, problems with the safety of the participants were noted, and in Monza there were troubles with the starting grid.

In fact, there can be 2 or more directors, but everything depends on their qualifications, experience and knowledge in terms of management. The current leadership so far only causes a new avalanche of jokes addressed to them.
